INTRODUCTION OF YELLOW & RED CARDS
The plan is to introduce yellow & red cards to international comps. This could be as soon as the Europeans in Moldova later this year.
3x yellow cards = red card & stop
It was discussed that the first yellow card would be given after a few warnings/no counts.
Reminder to athletes to always pay attention to your judge and correct issues before the showing of a card.
There was a mention of cards being used outside of your lift. From the moment of registration & weigh-in you are representing your country. If you are argumentative or aggressive at any point of the comp you could get a card. This doesn’t just go for athletes, but Coaches too.
Judges can also receive yellow & red cards for deliberate mistakes and incorrect judging. If this happens, they could be asked to recertify or have their judging licence taken away.
At the next judges meeting the following points will be discussed:
- How many warnings/no counts are given before use of the first yellow card. Likely 3-5
- How cards work if athletes have multiple lifts. Are they lift or comp specific? At the moment seems to be lift specific.
OTHER JUDGING INFO
They showed examples of how judges should communicate the following during competition:
- Lack of fixation. One arm straight up
- Rack position. Show the arm coming into rack
- No count. A wave above head
- Stop. Arms crossed above head.
There will hopefully be a PDF copy of the slides shown in today’s Webinar, will forward when received.
All athletes should watch the videos on the below link to ensure that they are lifting within the WKSF regulations.
